Forms

Forms are commonly used on websites to collect information about the website's visitors. They work much like questionnaires do, prompting the user to enter such details as name, e-mail address, and site preferences. They may also ask the user if they wish to subscribe to any newsletters the site may have to offer. A reputable website will only ask its visitors for information relevant to the purpose for collecting it, and as such you should exercise caution when entering information.

In many forms, specific elements are required. Generally these include your name, e-mail address, and preferences. If you attempt to submit a form with invalid data or no data entered, you will encounter an error message and a prompt to provide such information. But the most important thing to be careful of is phishing, which is the use of a look-alike website designed to get you to enter specific info that will cause your identity, money, or other goods to become compromised.
